passion flower leaves

i got this passion flower this year, only younge and its indoors till spring but its got these small holes in most of the leaves, and a sugary sticky stuff on some leaves, but no bugs to be seen, is this normal for a passion flower, can anyone help

iv looked and looked and cant see anything on the leaves moongrower and its inside the house to, what shall i look for,

Seriously, as Mg said - aphids do leave a sticky residue...maybe the ladybirds saved your plant by gobbling them up?? Try washing the leaves, if you can - when you can, that is!

thanx barbara i will do that,, wasnt sure if they had a sticky dropplets to help attach themselves to trellis

Nope no sticky droplets to help them attach to trellis, they are twiners. Oh and welcome back from me too!

Try looking up Nectaries and see if this fits what you are saying.

ok will do morgana :o) just looked and seems to be it, it is defetatly sugar like and sticky, thanx morgana, so the holes could have been something nibbling at that :o)

I found that with my clematis it was little tiny slugs on the leaves, some of my leaves on the purple passiflora one has gone abit yellowy and a few holes, I don't worry as there will be new growth come

Friend has hers out all year but she is on the Moray coast - bang on the coast so little chance of frost.

only inside this winter moongrower as its young, they addvised me to when i bourght it, will plant in spring after last frost :o)

Good luck - Sabine's grows so fast it is sometimes a challenge to get in through her front door... it is on a trellis by the door and sort of climbs in

bet it looks lovely when in bloom though, they seem very vigarous dont they, this will have white flowers when it eventually flowers

iv just had a look at your garden moongrower its lovely from the pic i saw, are alpines harder to grow than normal plants
