Is this the right time of year to prine my japonica bush?

I have been advised to prune my japonica bush to increase the fruit yield, but I can't remember when they said I should do it. Is now a good time or should I wait until spring?

Which japonica do you mean. kerria, fatsia, lonicera? or as you are talking about fruit, is it quince?.Japonica in a plant name usually means "of Japan".
I suggest you prune after flowering, in spring....any other time you will lose fruit rather than increase yield.
