Have I killed the lawn?
I put some autumn feed on the lawn back in October/November by just hand throwing it on ( I know I shouldn't have!). I also put down some grass seed at the same time. There are now lots of muddy patches over the lawn with the feed and grass seed lying on top and the lawn now looks terrible. Will it get better over time by itself or is there something I can do to remedy this or have I caused irrepairable damage?

There is nothing much you can do at this time of year. The grass has stopped growing and with all this rain you are best to stay off the grass. Wait and see how the grass is in the spring and you can rake the dead grass and reseed.

I am sure come the spring it will recover and then you can resow the bare patches.

I think it will be fine. But then I am no expert, I only speak of the lawn I know - it has a mad dog to contend with... I hate poop-patrol.
What I do know is that grass is tough old stuff and copes with a lot of abuse from all quarters and it still rewards us with swards of beauty from every corner of the world.

Lijemc. I think your lawn will be ok as Fractal-cat says grass is tough old stuff and you can always make good come the spring, what a nice word Spring, looking forward to that day :o)
Fractal cat, I have a little Shih Tzu and have Poop-patrol, I lift the manhole cover and put it down there, a neighboure of mine used to put his in the dustbin bags for the dustman to take away, poor dustman, he now does as I
do :o))

Thank-you Linda, DRC, Fractal Cat and Ladyessex, that's very reassuring. I will wait for Spring and I agree Ladyessex, Spring is a lovely word and I can't wait for it to come round again.

For future reference, Lijemc, don't put grass seed and a chemical treatment like Autumn lawn, or Weed and Feed, down at the same time. Leave six weeks between applying chemicals like these and reseeding.

if part of your life cycle is to burn and be eaten and get realy dry then getting a bit messy and wetshouldnt matter realy just keep of of it as much as posible .

I wouldnt have thought putting excrement down into a main drain a very good idea. Best to check with your local Water Authority. The pipes are not very wide, if everybody started doing it they would get blocked.

Thank-you Bamboo, I will remember and take your advice in future. This is the first time I've treated the lawn, I usually leave it to it's own devices but it wasn't looking its best even before I mucked around with it!
Thanks Noseypotter.

Stay of the grass and give it a feed next september. Must be after cutting on a high setting and be dry. It WILL be fine.
