do you mean hardy geraniums or the ones that are used for summer bedding?
If you mean the hardy ones i tend to tidy mine up in spring as the foliage protects the crown over winter.
if they are the summer ones, [pelargoniums] they can be lifted and repotted /take cuttings and kept frost free until spring.
