Leave them as they are for the birds or cut the heads off and hang them from a cord for the birds, then remove the rest of the plant. Birds win, either way.

The rest of the plant is big and not easy to compost unless you've a shredder, so perhaps it should go into the council bin. If you haven't a shredder try running the mower over them.
