I have three large Bergenia beds, only one of which has flowered over the last 2 or 3 years. 2 of the beds are in an open position and the other is shaded only in the afternoon. Has anyone any suggestions ? I am planning to remove 2 of the beds but would like to get the position right for the future.

There's a wonderful pic of Bergenias in Amateur Gardening this week planted with Cornus winter fire, what fab winter colour.

« I have grown some lovely Swede this year ,but they taste bitter, any one no why
Bergenias don't mind sun or a shady position, but like moist soil. They dislike dry conditions and too much heat.
It sounds as though they need to be divided, if they've been there for a number of years. You can do this either in autumn or spring. Probably a bit late to do it now, I think. Good luck with them.
