I have a newly planted Swamp magnolia in NC and the leaves are turning brown and in some cases falling off. Is it dying?

I think it's suposed to loose it leaves in November. Where in NC are you located? I'm 20 miles south of Boone in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I think our gardening is different than other places. Keep in touch.

If it is the Fall where you are, and it is a decideous bush/tree. ...its doing what it does naturally. You say it is newly planted, have you been keeping it watered while it is settling in?
