is it in the ground? if so then now before the soil freezes. dig as much of the rootball as you can so fewer of the fine roots are damaged. I would dig the new hole first, as big as you can and dig in plenty of compost/leaf mould as you can. Tramp the soil down around the plant once in its hole and water well. If there are periods of little or no rain [is this likely at the moment?] then dont forget to water well.
