I am new to Iris germnaica & would like advice on how and where to plant. I have heavy clay soil!

On plant Iris germanica

Answers

it will tolerate a little semi shade but will do better in sun. the rhizome needs to be half on the surface and half buried. I would dig in some grit with it before planting, just to help drainage. They are easy and relatively trouble free, in my garden any way. I have a deep purple one called 'black'.
hope this helps.

And try to plant the rhizomes with the leaves at the North end , so that they do not keep the sun off the roots.

How do I say thanks?
