I usually do a little bit in Nov/Dec mainly to stop what is commonly known as windrock but the main prune I do like to get done in February....

And don't confuse climbing roses with rambling roses - the latter have around a 6 week flowering period, usually mid summer, and don't flower again, and these need their pruning in September.

I plan to do mine feb /march. I remove all the damaged crossing over stems and then bend /tie in strong softish wood as it is flexible as close to the horizontal as possible to encourage more flowers.
