Hi Trefoil andwelcome to GoY the Choysia is a lovely shrub but, it isn't columnar and in most of UK is only considered half hardy. Take a look at Taxus Baccata, though you need to remember that they are VERY toxic. We are lucky enough to have a mail or female so have berries each year.

hi jackie, thanks for your suggestion but the choysia is too wide. I will bear it in mind for other parts of the garden. trefoil.

It is super in my opinion and is not a fast grower. Try to get a female then if there is a male anywhere in the area you 'should' get berries. Look forward to seeing photos of your garden.

If you want any different ideas for evergreens, take a look at Bluespruce's garden! Plenty of choices there. Type 'Bluespruce' into the search box to find him. :-))

How about a Choysia Sundance shrub,
My Mum loves the one outside the patio window as the shrub has yellow top leaves of Golden Yellow and brightens up the shaded spot and is evergreen, its like a burst of sunshine.
