I am trying to grow potato plants in a pot. Its an average size pot..not so large. After planting half cut potatoes, 4 to 5 green stems started to grow, I was very happy. I have used bio culture soil for it. After growing so fast for about 5 days, those started falling down by breaking in middle. I observe those stems are not strong enough to carry the load of plant. And I started to give them support but its not working. They are getting pale. Pls give me an advice asap

Maybe too much heat, we grow them in cool conditions, no choice!

Hi Chinmaya and welcome to GoY, how are you growing the potatoes? It looks like you are doing so indoors which will not work. They certainly look 'drawn' which would indicate a lack of natural light.

Hi Chinmaya:
Were these planted recently or were these for Christmas potatoes which would of been planted in Aug. time? I definitely echo what the others have said about the pot to be grown outside with plenty of light.
Apparently, I read recently that 'Charlotte' and 'Lady Cristl' are good for pot grown crops... you can start again afresh with new seed that you can buy now from the garden centre (or from a Potato Fair which you can buy singly for about 15p - Google this). Chit them in a cool, light frost-free place and plant out in mid-Mar/early Apr. whether in a pot or in the ground.
Hope this helps!

It looks like they haven't had enough light.
