Anyone have an aerogarden? I think I would like to get one, but wonder if they are worth it. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Not something I would want, perfectly happy with pots of herbs on my windowsill and a larger pot with salad leaves growing in it when I choose to do so. Looks awfully expensive for something you don't really need.

I thought so to MG

My step mum gave us one they are expensive they cost over £100 to buy and the seeds for them start from around £7 and go to £15 depending what you buy I did try normal packets of seeds with no luck it now sits on the shelf gathering dust. I am going to put it up for sale on eBay soon when we have a clear out. As I said they are very expensive here in the UK but do check the price of them in the states and go from there. They will grow herbs very well though.

They are $110+ in the States, Steve. I cannot see how they can be worth it.

Dont know what to do with them.

Their main advantage over just a pot of potting soil under a lamp, is that they are easier on those allergic to molds, not having soil to grow mold in. Other than that, a fairly expensive way to grow stuff indoors

Why would you need a lamp over a pot of herbs to grow indoors Tug? My personal view is this is a rip off!\

So that would be a No then! Thanks all for your thoughts ;O)

Thanks Scotkat, I always thought that they were ornamental for the house.....bit like a fish tank......only plants........

The models I saw included a lamp in a dome over the container, so I included that. Here in the desert, we put lamps over any ostensibly outdoor plant that we are trying to grow indoors, because our houses are normally built so dark--large awnings/patio roofs, narrow windows, few bay windows, landscaping blocking the light, aluminum screens, etc. Makes for interesting times starting seedlings indoors, but it keeps the air conditioning bills down! : )

Ah, don't think anyone in the UK has that problem Tugb. Still seems a really odd way to grow herbs to me...

My step mum has got ms and she has always been a keen gardener she is nearly wheelchair bound and this aero garden allowed her to grow toms and herbs quite successfully but she cannot even use it anymore so she gave it me I agree with all the comments but at least it gave her great pleasure.
