Here I go with my questions, I have normally grown dahlias by tubers put straight into the ground about april, this year I want to put them into pots, do I just plant tubers in the pots in april, and what soil, thanks.

Pots are better as they warm up quickly in sunshine and you can move them out of frost and keep an eye on slugs!

I usually start mine off indoors in mid feb and take cuttings from the first couple of shoots. They need to be kept frost free though. I just use a normal potting compost, nothing special.

« hi everyone.. got a little query i'd like to ask anyone with...
yep, pretty much so Patricia although you might want to start with a smaller, say 2 litre pot and then grow them on and pot them on as they grow. Any Standard potting compost is fine.
Will you be giving them any cold protection....i know it shouldn't be too much of a problem but we can get some hard frosts in April...and up to mid May so unless they're going into a greenhouse or similar, it might be worth having some fleece ready and keeping an eye on the weather forecast.
Good luck
