hello everyone hope you are all well.
I need some advice on when to plant out a raspberry cane and a pot of rhubarb. They were both recently bought from garden centre.
The Rhubarb has started to grow in its pot in the cold greenhouse. but the raspberry cane is dormant.

Thank you
Aina

as soon as the ground is frost free you can plant them out. the rhubarb will like some fertiliser sprinkled in too.

Agree with SBG though if you have it well rotted manure will serve your raspberries and rhubarb crown better then fertiliser. Cut the raspberry canes down to 10 inches above the ground when you plant them.

I hope the rhubarb is growing and the raspberry isn't :o)) That is the way it should be. Of course SBG and MG are correct but if the raspberry is early fruiting and you want a few fruits this year then it shouldn't be cut back. If it is autumn fruiting then it should. If you only have one cane though you won't get much fruit from it whether it is summer or autumn fruiting. Plant it and watch it spread over the year(s).

I would keep the rhubarb outside until you plant it.

How do I say thanks?
