I have just bought a collection of 6 Hellebores, what is the best position for them? I have not had any before but just love all the ones I have seen on GOY.

Light shade in neutral soil which does not dry out too much in Summer.
In fact the ones we have just seed themselves wherever they choose from the gravel garden in full sun to the deep summer shade of a deciduous wood.

There are a few different Hellebore Lizziebee eg H. orientalis or H. Niger which have you bought?

I am not sure Scottish, they are all called Ellen if that helps.

I think they are orientalis cultivars. They come in double and single flowers.
A semi-shaded position would suit them well; The dappled light beneath a tree would be perfect.
I am not sure they will come true from seed so look after the parent plant. You could get some interesting seedlings eventually.

They are indeed orientalis hybrids.

Thanks so much for all the information, will decide now where to put them, looking happy in pots at the moment.

Depending on the size of the plants, I would grow them in pots until they reach a reasonable size if they are only small.

How do I say thanks?
