thyme lawn

Would love to hear from anyone who's actually done a thyme lawn - or path, even - Would this work in Scotland? Last year I covered the area that is to be planted with thyme with "green manure" to nourish the soil and keep away weeds. Do I have to dig that all up or can I just turn it over?
thanks,

Hi Nang and welcome to GoY. Any garden centre worth its salt will have packets of thyme seed look for Thymus serpyllum, the creeping thyme, not the one you grow for cooking. Remember that whilst a thyme lawn can take a moderate amount of walking on you will need stepping stones or some such if there is constant traffic across one area. A thyme lawn wont work if you have children or pets running around. Do take photos as your project goes along and put up a blog for others to read.

I bought some thyme seed in tesco this week. When sowed, i put it on a heat mate and it germinated in 4 days !!!!!
