I picked up a twig, fuchsia I think, after a neighbour had been pruning last November. I haven't had much luck with cuttings in the past, but stuck it in a jar of water on the window-sill and forgot about it. It is now sprouting leaves from the junction of a sidebranch, but there is no sign of any roots. Can I grow it into a garden plant or is it doomed to a short life like a cut flower?

If the bottom of the cutting has what looks like a slightly larger area that's a bit corky or dark looking at a micro level, it'll be a callous - nip that off and pop back into water - this might trigger root production.

How do I say thanks?
