Have they killed them! Just took delivery of some delphiniums and they were rolling around inside the box and all the top growth has been snapped off at the base. So basically I took delivery of pots of compost ! Will they grow again this year or are they ruined

Where they properly packed? Take digital photos if you can to back up your complaint.

and in answer to the query, they may resprout from the root stock. almost as if they have been grazed off by slugs. But definitely take photos and complain to the company that sent them to you.

rang company and they will replace them. ps there's nothing to take photos of except pots of compost. Good observation by seaburngirl - imagine it is similar to being eaten at the base by slugs - but do dephiniums resprout from the root stock after this has happened
( before I chuck them in the bin )

Possibly. Keep them a while and see if they do sprout.

And the ones in the garden disappear over winter and sprout up again so its worth a try.

Previous question
I would make a complaint to where they came from as they can claim on post office.
And photos.
Good luck
