We are now in our 4th year in this house, and there was an evergreen azalea in a shady bed which has never flowered. Last autumn I dug it up and planted it in an old barrel in ericaceous compost ( I hate throwing away plants!). It still doesn't look very happy, so should I cut it right back now or leave it and see what happens by next autumn?

I definitely wouldn't cut it back now as it will just be coming into growth

I would leave it for 2 years to settle in its correct compost.
