Pruning a Daniel Deronda Clematis
I've just noticed my Daniel Deronda Clematis is shooting already.
I planted it last year and it had a few flowers. But have I left it too late to prune it now? I just read the label that came with it and it says I should have pruned it down to 30cm in February.

It's a group 2 Clematis, which only needs a light prune when it's mature, but as it's new, it's wise to cut it back as the label advises. This is to promote new growth from the base in its first year. You're not too late to prune it. I always feed my clems after a prune.
