POLYTUNNEL
Have any of you bought one of those tunnels/greenhouse made from green woven type plastic which i sometimes see alongside this site?
If so what do you think? They are around the 70 pound mark.

I know you get what you pay for but i need a quick solution to my growing seed storage problem as Im running out of space indoors.

Ultimately i would like to build my own tunnel but i just don't have any time just now.

Not bad but make sure you buy the 25mm diameter fully galvanised frame model. These bolt together and are sturdier.

The covers can be short-lived but poly-tunnel repair tape to reinforce the seems will extend the life. Treat the zips with respect as they are a weak point.

Also bury the cover's 'skirts' as per the instructions otherwise it will blow away!

I would get one the cheap walk in ones from wilkos they are £42 and will serve your needs and maybe get some staging to go with it. I have found they are fine as long as they are anchored down well. They is also this greenhouse going on eBay for £70

Thanks both. What i am going to do, as my height is an issue, as well as money, is to first go for, as mentioned the galvanized 25mm framed 4 x 2 metre tunnel. ( min )

As the height is 2metres and i am considerably more, i am going to make a basic wooden frame about 2 feet from the ground which will give me the height i need.

The biggest issue by many buyers seems to be anchoring it to the ground, with this is mind i hope to secure the tunnel frame to the wooden base with 25 mm pipe clips screwed into position.

Hopefully this should work well and at least i will only need to replace the plastic now and then which i would have to do anyway and once i have the funds it could be extended with an additional tunnel.

That's the theory anyway.

Bought one last year, it lasted 4 weeks before it blew away in the high winds we had. Even the slightest wind would bash the thing all over the place and i couldn't dream of having the door or vent open in anything more than a force 2 breeze !!!

Bought a second hand 10 x 8 glasshouse for £100, there is no comparrison !!!

How tall are you at 6 feet 6 inches plus?
These plastic greenhouses are very prone to wind damage. On every gardening site there are tales of woe about them blowing away.

I am just touching 7 feet Owdboggy, which is a pain as most tunnels off the shelf are only 2 meters high.

Ultimately i will construct my own but this is just a stop gap really until i can afford it.

Wow!
You would not be happy in our professional polytunnel either then. That is 2 metres high as well. Not sure I could have made it any higher either with the hoops and fixings supplied.
Best of luck with it in that case.
