I planted 6 Allium Globmasters last year and they were stunning, the leaves started emerging a few weeks ago and I noticed that they may have doubled. As they have very large flower heads and they will be too close to each other can I split them now or do I wait until after they have flowered this year. Also do you think its a bit early for them to be coming through now? Thanks

the new bulbs will probably be too small to flower. after the older bulb has flowered and it dies back lift and separtate them then.

Wait until summer when they're going dormant.
Mine has propagated well last year, each bulb has turned into 2 or 3 smaller new ones. I don't understand why they are very expensive given that they propagate so easily

Most of my alliums are showing now Marion. You might find the babies won't flower for a few years so probably not worth doing this year anyway. I can remember a conversation about them last year and I'm sure that was the conclusion. I will however bow to anyone else's superior knowledge :)
