I am going to enter a local competition for growing the tallest Sunflower.
Can anyone give me a few tips from their experience of growing the tallest sunflower.
All competitors have been issued with the same seeds which are Russian Giant

I have squirrel problems. The critters will run up the stalks, and ride the head over and break it off. Sorry Peta..live catch cages are out. This is war.

if they survive the slugs and dont snap your doing well.....we used to grow the every year for a local comp...fourteen foot was our tallest...then theres the problem of transporting such a huge beast....dont plant them till april or they will become too leggy and fall over.......good luck
