Well unless it is a female and you have a male nearby to pollenate it you wont get berries.

Yes, the female holly bears the berries but it needs a male in the vicinity to pollinate it. Now, if you just have one existing holly bush how do you know if it is male or female? I don't know the answere to this.

I'd imagine the boffins could tell, Bulbaholic, but otherwise, you need the cultivar name - unless there are other holly bushes around or nearby which DO fruit, which probably means this one is a male.
