It happened to me one year and I think around this time. Anyway, I planted them and they now come up every year. Crocus and daffs. just luck I guess, from what Bulba says.

Even if they come up next year it would be great.... Thanks again folks, so glad I found this website... when I ask anything at the garden centres they dont seem to be able to give me an answer.

That is because the majority of GC staff don't know anything about the products they sell...

Not really luck, Mbd, but it always helps ;-). A lot depends on the condition of the bulb. I have been in GCs after Christmas and seen spring bulbs still on sale. A quick fondle of the packet has revealed that the bulbs were either soft or just empty shells - these were dead. If the bulb is firm and healthy it could still grow, after a fashion, and in future years could produce flowers and grow on normally. Notice the use of the word 'could' rather than 'will'. I certainly would not go out and buy packets of dry spring bulbs now.

Nothing to lose by planting them, Jutie, though I doubt if they will do much. Spring bulb flowers are now almost over for this year, but, with a lot of the luck of the Irish, they may come on next year.
