Hi There... My friend gets married in September and i've been desperately searching for the right wedding present... I'd really like to get her a small to medium tree or large plant that would survive in a large pot (ground planting not an option right now as her garden is still being 'done') and that would flower / fruit in september every year so that it's in bloom for her anniversary... Any ideas? (UK Based)

Can't think of a tree that blooms in September, but a crab apple would bloom in spring and fruit in the autumn (though the apples might not have got ripe by September, depends which part of the month and what the season' been like)) and there are some very pretty ones

Hello and welcome to Goy Daedalous what a lovely idea.
How about The Wedding Cake Tree

The Golden Rain Tree.
A Daphene will give yrs of perfumed pleasure in garden but comes into bloom around now.
Or a nice varigated rhodendrum.
Good luck on your purchase
