Hi everyone, I have grown some sweet peas and on reading blogs and questions on here, I notice that you pinch the tops off the sweet pea, is this necessary, and what is the purpose, I have never done this before, I have always grown sweetpeas, don't mean to sound naive but I am a novice gardener and just wondered why. Many thanks

By pinching out the growing tip you will encourage your sweet pea plants to become bushier.

Yes, it encourages the side shoots to grow and you'll end up with a bushier plant.
