Add a photo. And what are you doing anyway, sitting on your bottom at 2-15 on a beautiful day like this ?

I was sitting on my bottom because a) it was not that great a day b) my job requires me to sit on my bottom c) I have osteoarthritis of the spine and can't stand for long periods of time. And no you haven't offended me Hank

And as i had a hip problem and that was sorted via an opp but M.G's problem cant be sorted so easy, i can honestly say "she's doing a good job in a non relaxed feeling.
Good on her, she's needed and respected and i hope they do find a way to sort her problem out.

Thank you Dungy right now all the medics offer is pain relief - which means I am out of it or get on and deal - which is what I do for 95% of the time... It is extremely hard on both myself and Bulba - we have spent all our adult life gardening and going to the mountains on holiday to see alpine plants growing in their native conditions and now I can't. But I am still mobile and on my own two feet!

Oops, i guess I opened my big mouth again. My wife was always telling me I'd no tact. Really glad I haven't put my foot in it altogether.

Hank - you had no idea that I have a problem with my back, it isn't something I stand up and shout about. Please don't get upset about this, I'm not!

I think it takes an awful lot to upset Mg. She may sit down when necessary but she also plays a very important role as Secretary of the Scottish Rock Garden Club which has members world wide. She and Bb attend the shows around the country and are very supportive of other gardeners. I'm not having a go at you Hank because I'm sure it was not meant to be problematic and it has nothing to do with me but I can tell you that when she says something we all listen because its worth hearing. Having read some of the q's after yours I think you are trying to tell us you are having difficulty loading a photo to your question. It has been a problem for members over the last few days.

I know you have had a good influence on my garden and many others, and you have not set eyes on any of them. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but allied to experience, which you and Bb have in abundance and generosity in sharing it, makes the world a better place.

Hi MG,
a little off the gardening subjects but in the long run may get you on your feet without pain and this will lead to more gardening being done by you so its all in a good cause and its this,
My other half had the same problem as you've got and after a lot of discomfort & pain we went private and she had a fluid injected inbetween her back bones (sorry i cant for the life of me remeber the name of the disc things that protect your spine) but that was the problem "these disc things" we're not keeping apart and she never really knew when she was going to have pain,
She was told by the doctor it may not work and if it didnt then it was pain pills only but it did work and lets be honest here M,G it's all about time, and living in any pain isnt what retirement should be about, if you can have a second chance then go for it,
My hip problem was because of years of military life and thinking i was a bird, landing a few times "shall we say not so good" but "Now" i feel so much better no more sudden hip pain when i didnt expect it ie in bed asleep or even sitting on the loo, people may smile but it can really upset your life and why spend that much earned retirement time dealing with it.
I hope you give this a serious thought, even get a second opinion sometimes its worth the asking.
Good luck,
regards Dungy.

Thanks for the suggestion Dungy - I'm seeing the GP next week and will see if this is a possibility. I'm also looking into acupuncture.
