Thank you all for your views - I thought it might be a bit late. Trouble was we couldn't get a lorry up there because of the mud and then it got too cold and hard. I have a full time job as well so that didn't help. Ok so I think I should be able to make a runner bean trench and put some well rotted horse manure in that and then wait until next autumn to do get the rest done.
