My teeny plugs of Stocks are now in a seed-tray insert (as suggested by Seaburngirl) and during the day are on a windowsill with the window open. Is that ok? My follow -on question is do they need the plastic lid? You always say no question is stupid, but this one feels like it! The stocks have 2 sets of leaves.

To my mind it takes courage to ask a "stupid" question Merlin, and it can often help someone else on the site . . . I've been growing seeds for many years, and I'm STILL not quite sure when a plastic lid is needed!
Luckily there are several kind members who are generous with their help - Seaburngirl is one of them :)

Thankyou SBG and Sheila. Yes I agree, Seaburngirl is so kind and thoughtful. I've always found that this isn't a scary site when it comes to asking questions and everyone is patient and courteous.
And yes again Sheila; i often benefit from other members' 'stupid' questions.
