Thank you to the 2 people who have replied....but this plant is neither of those. Stem is triangular, leaves are narrow with single rib at the back, the flowers are all at the tip of the stem, with a delicate green stripe on the inside of the petal, smells like garlic & leaves taste like a mild chive!! I will try & add photo!

Allium triquetrum is my suggestion for this 'thugish' but pretty plant.

Looks like Wild Garlic to me. Saw whole fields of them when cycling in Scotland, with Bluebells in the next field, couldnt figure out why they didnt mix ?

Well, I would agree, a type of Allium, but would pass on the soup till you're sure!
Have a look at Allium cowanii......the flowers are edible.
Also Allium tuberosum........chinese chive, these are edible.
Found it Allium triquetrum....three cornered garlic.
it has the green striped flowers, AND every bit is edible!
