Hi everyone...I havnt been on for while now but well as the garden is starting to bloom and im loving the spring weather thought id pop on to see whats happening.
Also I wanna grow a bamboo in a large container....any ideas on which types. :)

Hi, do you mean bamboo as in Arundinaria, or bamboo as in Bambusa?, the former is hardy to about minus ten deg c, the latter is only half hardy, which means you can't grow it outside in the uk, Derek.

Well Im not sure what bamboo I want but it has to be hardy and not grow too high

I think mine is the first one that Derek named,cookie girl..it seems to ring a bell..just been out to measure it,and it's about 4 foot tall,plus the height of the large pot,which is approx 16"high,and 20" across...been there for about 8 years now..so hasn't got out of hand at all..but the roots have filled the pot now.. as I mentioned earlier,I keep the pot out of full sun....hope this helps..:o)

Hi Cookiegirl..I have had one in a large pot for years,but sadly,I no longer remember the variety..the only thing I do remember,it was a slow growing,non suckering variety..the latter being important..it also prefers to be a bit shaded,and well watered..hope this helps with your search for one..
