I took quite a few cuttings of penstemons last year, they were all doing really well, I have just checked on them and quite a few have lost their leaves or disappeared altogether does this happen that they just rot away. They have been overwintered in a spare room, I have not watered them, so cannot understand why the have died.

Thanks for your answer, I have watered but only sparingly, it is just a shame they looked such healthy plants, will try again next year hopefully with better luck.

when you say 'not watered' do you mean not watered at all. if this is so that will be why..
some cuttings do die back. knock some out of the pot and see what roots they have. if still alive then water sparingly.
