I have just bought a coprosma pina colada which has the most stunning gold/pink/orange foliage. As this was a bit of a spur of the moment purchase, I now worry that it is not hardy and will not survive the winter in our north Lincolnshire garden. Can anyone advise how best to take care of this stunning shrub please? Many thanks.

This is a variety of Coprosma repens, which is a half hardy plant, and as such cannot withstand temperatures below freezing, some species are frost hardy, which means they can withstand temps down to 23deg f, but not for prolonged periods, but yours will need the protection of a heated greenhouse or conservatory, using fleece would not provide adequate protection, Derek.

Wow, what a great community of gardening colleagues! No sooner have I been in a quandary about a "whim" purchase, found this great website, and asked a question, then 2 kind people have quickly responded with very helpful and positive comments. Thanks so much.

I have just googled this plant and it is not hardy so will need to be covered with fleece and protected over winter. If you have it in a planter you could cover it and move it into a greenhouse or something similar. Hope you manage to keep it ok. sounds lovely.
