I have just googled this plant and it is not hardy so will need to be covered with fleece and protected over winter. If you have it in a planter you could cover it and move it into a greenhouse or something similar. Hope you manage to keep it ok. sounds lovely.

This is a variety of Coprosma repens, which is a half hardy plant, and as such cannot withstand temperatures below freezing, some species are frost hardy, which means they can withstand temps down to 23deg f, but not for prolonged periods, but yours will need the protection of a heated greenhouse or conservatory, using fleece would not provide adequate protection, Derek.
