Good Morning.....Here in Castlemorton Malvern we are experiencing cold harsh winds with smattering of sunshine...oh well it MUST get better soon. So I have this lovely Cytisus in my garden for the first year...and it has burst out like a lovely firework, what I need to know is does it need pruning if so when?? Our garden is in a trail this Bank Holiday weekend around three parishes, just need this wind to drop pleeeeeeese!!

Pruning, if you feel it is getting too big or 'leggy' (as they do eventually) is done after flowering. And like many other plants it will not shoot from brown wood,so leave a couple of inches of green shoot for new growth to come from. They are only short lived shrubs by the way. Dead easy to propagate from cuttings taken after flowering.

Thanks for that...when you say "Cut it Back" do you mean down low or back to main branch. Will have a go at propagation any way.
