Hi' Dat, welcom to GOY, onion's like chicken manure , but so do wier worms, so when you lift the onion's dig in a dusting of lime, best to have dried manure and sprinkel on the bed as the plants grow, and if your sets jump out of the ground it is just the roots pushing a little hard, not the manure, when this happens and it will just push them back.
