I have a young Victoria Plum tree which I planted about a month ago and seems quitre healthy but the main stem is growing fast while the side shoots are not doing much, is thisO.K?

the main stem will always grow faster than the side shoots. if you want more side shoot you have to take the growing tip out. its called apical dominance and chemicals produced by the plant means only the main part grows the best. ensures it gets to the light the quickest.

so it is ok to take the tip out but the shape of the tree will change as a result.
