Can anyone recommend a gardening glove that doesn't let the dirt through. I have tried several and still end up filthy? Does such a thing exist?

I think the best gardening gloves are leather...I can't say I've noticed my hands get dirty wearing them but u could always wear a pair of latex gloves underneath but that would be hot!!!

Pop round Wil - I have got some in my shed which are dirtproof! Your next door neighbour.

I always use latex free surgical gloves...two pairs for heavier jobs. My hands do sweat a bit, but it beats the mess the soil makes of my skin, and I can still feel what I am touching!

Sorry, as I said, can't be bothered - just get my hands mucky, grubby and wash and, if I remember, use hand cream! Our gardening ancestors did not wear gloves...

Trick I was told by a builder - scrape fingernails over a bar of soap. Stops dirt getting under nails which is the real downside of gardening/building.
Healthy dose of dirt never hurt anyone but gloves protect against the 'presents' left by neighbours' cats and other undesirables.

Such do exist, best to look for good quality ones at a garden centre - have to confess I have and never wear, simply give my hands a good wash after being in the garden and, try, to remember to used hand cream.
