desperate times fellow gardeners.....my red acer has come through the winter and looks really good ,but my green one ( sorry dont know variety ) has leaves on some branches but about a third of branches have died its looking rather bare .....any ideas ....tree is about six feet tall

Maybe it suffered with the cold and the wind? Acers can be a bit temperamental and die back if they're not happy.
