Apologies if I asked this question before, but can anyone tell me how to distinguish between geum and potentilla (herbaceous perennial). Thanks.

Herbaceous Potentillas generally have strawberry like foliage, being usually 3 leaves in one. Geum foliage is either entire or somewhat pinnate. Geum flowers often have showier stamens in the flower.
