We started a new garden society in our area and approached our local council for some land to make raised beds to grow veg. which they granted us, now we have 50 plots 10ft x 4ft just a nice size we started making them in march when the weather was very bad we carried on and planted our seeds seedlings and onions sets. Which brings me to the problem I have with the onions shallots the tops of the leaves are going yellow. The area is very exposed and there is no water supply so we have to fetch water every day to them when it not raining. I will upload two photos so you can see the problem I am having. If you can help me sort this problem I would be most thank full

Thank you Cammomile, I cut the outer leaf off and they look much better now, you were right they do turn yellow when they mature.

Thank you Snoopdog, I don't think I planted them too far down, I did rub my finger around the top to remove some of the clay just in case.

I thought they turned yellow and dried as they matured but I have read that they are biennial so should go through a winter until the following year. Someone with more knowledge will answer you.
