Sorry, I think I posted this in the wrong bit earlier...

Please could anyone tell me what this is? It is starting to take over our new garden and appears to be very invasive. I have tried digging and pulling it out but it snaps off before the root so I never get the whole thing. It is even spreading onto the adjoins path between the slabs.
Has anyone got any (environmentally friendly) ideas of how to get rid of it.

I think it's Epilobium Angustifolium also known as rosebay willow herb

Yes I agree with Anchorman. keeping pulling up what you see and try digging down to remove as much of the white fleshy runner that you can. It responds well to gylphosphate weed killer if all other efforts fail. don't let it flower and seed though

Many thanks Anchorman and Seaburngirl. I have just Googled Rosebay Willowherb and you are right. I think I may have my work cut out getting rid of it...there is lots!

There are weed killers based on orange oil that may be effective.
