I have an Aquilegia with two different types of flower heads. Is this unusual? Photo attached.

Look the same to me too, there is a rhododendron flower in the background.

Looks a bit as if you have a double flowered one with the occasional single flower. We get a lot of that happening.

Thanks Owdboggy yes there were single and double flowers on the same plant. I have had aquilegias self seed in my garden for several years but had never seen this before. Shame this isn't something special but they were lovely while they lasted anyway.

Since they are perennial it may well happen again next year.
