My Yucca has a flower head on after quite a few years of being barren, it is not showing any sign of the flowers breaking open yet. Is this normal.
Also it has a lot of brown dead leaves at the bottom,do I cut them off or is this a sign of something else ?

The brown dead leaves at the bottom is normal, that's how it grows, bit like a banana. As the new growth at the top grows and the plant grows taller, the bottom leaves will die off. I have one on my patio growing in a pot and every now and then I pull some of the lowest wilted leaves off in a downward direction purely for aesthetic reasons.

The flowers take a while to open on a tall reddish spike. They should get there.
