I follow with leeks usually but they are sown earlier. It really a bit late for planting them but I still do it every year. Ground watered tonight, hoping to get them in tomorrow! Also got some Greyhound cabbages in. Purple sprouting broccoli OK OK too although it brassicas after potatoes isn't the rotation recommended.

Thanks for you replys...will try some spring cabbage I think.. if I can find some seeds. Looked round my small town today and the few shops that sold seeds have got rid of them all now... probably will be getting ready for the dreaded xmas stock coming in soon.

Absolutely fine to only lift the amount of potatoes you need to use at this time of year. 1st early and 2nd early potatoes are at their best if lifted as needed.
