Hello GOYers,
I bought a tree fern trunk today, it had one unfurling frond on it which I managed to snap doh!
Is it likely to grow any new ones this season ?

Hi Karen
Me too, I've looked on line and found them quite expensive. I bought this one from Hampton court flower show last week for £25, the trunk is about 2 ft tall and the new frond has grown to 1 ft in 8 days !.
I was so cheeky, there was only one 2 ft one left, the stall holder was explaining to me how to overwinter it, at that point I hadn't said I'd buy it, when a couple starting looking at it, I turned round and said to them 'sorry that ones sold' and turned back to carry on talking! ?

Probably. They're ever so tender and brittle when young (i.e. as they unfurl). Are there more little curled up hairy brown babies in the crown of the plant? If so, they should unfurl.
