I've got some great tall thistles that have lots of large
leaves at the base which look very scruffy and slugs hide under, is it ok to trim some off or do I have to leave them on for the plant to stay healthy. Thanks for any advice.

I think it would be alright to trim these off as they are not contributing to the look of the plant.
