Hi, I've got small white spots on my Acer but can't see any insects. Anyone have any ideas please??

Thanks for help. I've attached some photos + have noticed leaves are being eaten but still can't see any insects or bugs.

Acers are a bit prone to Powdery Mildew, could be that.

are they scale insect carcases? they look like white and fluffy discs. But a photo would help :o)
