I was totally seduced by this plant on a recent visit to Ikea, but I have no idea what it is or how to take care of it...Help please!

Google bromeliad images, I 'think' that is what your plant is.

Curcuma alismatifolia - Siam tulip. I have some great books! Google it up for the care required.

Well done Worthy

Wow, is it a house plant Worthy?

Thanks Worthy1, I've just looked it up an it seems it's related to the Ginger plant. It would appear to be a bit temperamental, so fingers crossed.

It doesn't look real, does it?

Hi Sunbeam, no it doesn't does it? I had to touch it to be sure. It feels very waxy.

How very dare you lol! It most certainly is NOT.

;o))) Does that mean I'm off your Christmas card list?

28 Jul, 2013

Lol, no of course not. Just so long as you don't ever think I would buy PLASTIC flowers ever again.

I'VE got "pretend" flowers (silk, not plastic) because in our dark, dark house, nothing growing (except mould) would ever survive. So there! Are you implying that my taste is a bit "iffy?", then, Waddy?
(I'm only winding her up, folks, 'cos we're bestest friends, really, and I know she's got a great sense of humour and will forgive me almost anything, and I'm a bit bored today and could do with a bit of fun :o))

Are we talking taste in Plastic now, or something else?

30 Jul, 2013

Ah, no, my taste in most things (specially my friends) is pretty much impeccable. You should know that. :o)

Slipped up here then didn't you? lol.

Contrary to popular opinion, I can't be perfect in EVERY aspect, you know.

30 Jul, 2013

Lol, Ok you win!

30 Jul, 2013

Oh dear, I'm having a bad day linguistically - I should have written "In every respect" not "In every aspect". Which goes to prove that I'm NOT perfect. :o(
I Just had a little misunderstanding with the dentist, too, when I told her that I felt a little woozy, and used the word "ebrea" (Jewish) instead of "ebbra" (groggy) I THINK she understood what I was getting at, but it doesn't do my street cred. much good. I think I offer entertainment value second to none, though.

How do I say thanks?
